Blog #10

In today's WLE blog I want you to analyze how different you felt working today verses how you felt your first day at your WLE. Specifically talk about how you have grown during your internship. In addition, talk about how your WLE project has helped that growth.

Blog #9

Write a one-page reflection describing the progress of your project.
• What specific things have you done so far?
• What still needs to be done in the next 3 weeks to finish your project?
• What supports will you need from your advisor and mentor to complete your project?
• After seeing the examples of Patrice and Tony's multimedia component, what are your thoughts for your own (since it is required for everyone)?

Blog #8

Write a one-page reflection on what you did this week (4/9) at your internship. It needs to be creative and interesting for teachers and mentors to read. We do not want to know how long you sat at a desk or what you ate for lunch. (You should be able to write a one page reflection with out questions, given how much you do this at CAT).

Blog #7

Tomorrow you will be assigned your Mentor interview. The purpose of the interview is to learn who your mentor is, how they arrived at their current job and the various paths they took in order to get there.

For your blog assignment today, please write out 10 questions, in complete sentences, that you would ask your mentor during your interview to help you "paint a portrait" of your mentor and provide "real life" information about the career field you are exposed to during your WLE.

Now that you've completed week 5 of your internship experience, explain your ideas in full detail about the following questions:

*What have you decided to do for your final project?
* What are the benchmark steps (what do you need to do to get to your final project)?
*How will this benefit your WLE site?
*How are you going to present the project to the CAT community at your exhibition?

Blog #5

As teachers have gone for visits to the various workplace sites of students, we have seen students doing work that relates to a bigger picture or larger task that will benefit the workplace or the company.

Please describe in detail the work you have currently been engaged in and how that work relates to the larger whole of the workplace you are currently involved with.

In addition, have you decided on a project for your WLE?  If so, please describe what your plan is for your final project.  If you have not thought about a project, please explain what possibilities exist and which one(s) interest you the most.

Minimum 500 words.  Save this in a Word Document as well.

Blog #4

Imagine you are your mentor and you are journalling about your new intern.  Try to imagine what goes through your mentor's mind over the course of the entire day as you work.

--What do you think went through your mentor's mind as your walked in to work this past Wednesday?
--What things about you do you think impress your mentor?
--What things about you do you think your mentor isn't impressed by?
--What things about you do you think your mentor wants to learn from you?
--What stories about you do you think your mentor tells you to friends, colleagues and family?  Tell these stories.

Your response should be thorough, spell-checked and at least 500 words.
Due by Tuesday, February 19th at 11:59pm.

Blog #3

Take a moment to think back over your WLE day this week... what was it like?  What happened?  What did you take away from this experience?  In a 2-page double spaced reflection, reflect on your experience.

If you get stuck, consider some of the following questions:
--What value or purpose did what I did today serve (for me personally, for school, for my site)?
--What did I learn about others?  What did I learn about myself?  What did I observe (self, world, others)?
--Is what I am doing valuable? How do I know? Is it meaningful work?
--What questions do I have?
--How has my experience at WLE changed my perception of what is possible out of a "school" experience?

Blog #2

Congratulations on the start of your Workplace Learning Experience.  Lots of work goes into securing an internship, not to mention the bravery required whenever stepping into a new environment.  Your advisors applaud you.

Your Week-One Blog Prompt:
How did you preconceptions of your WLE match up with your actual experience on Wednesday?  What most struck you about the professional environment in which you are working?  What surprised you? If you are still setting up a WLE, then post a blog that details recent developments  in your search.
